Summary
The old films, newsreels and movies and shows and the like, have survived throughout the centuries. The video of Neil Armstrong taking the first steps on the moon is something that's been ingrained in Tim’s brain ever since he first saw it.
The footage is grainy and very old, but it kept him captivated when he was younger. He hasn't seen it in a while, but he thinks that even now it’d have the same effect.
He remembers the specific video, the one he downloaded about twelve times just in case it got deleted. Frank Reynolds sits at a dark grey desk, with a picture of the earth and a larger moon next to it, like they're in the solar system with the astronauts.

Marcille jerks back, eyes wide with surprise.
“I mean, no,” Falin says, this time at a much more normal volume. “I’ll help you.”

But he was probably more responsive — tortured and broken and crazy he would still give a better answer because at least it would be something.
Jason tries again. “Why didn’t you come home?”

When he made it up the steps by the wheel — where someone he didn’t know the name of was steering back to the mainland — the cheers reached his ears in a way he knew should keep his heart pumping, a smile on his face . . . but it just sounded like noise. And, yeah, they were cheering for him, something he wanted for so long, but it wasn’t right. Maybe it was the eerie calmness of the water, or maybe it was the bleeding gums that greeted him at every turn.

Remus knew his affliction was dangerous — he knew it from the start and when he woke up and there were large scratches on the walls and some in his own flesh. He was just a child when the accident happened — not even quite five years old — but he remembered it vividly. He remembered the creak of the windowpane and how he ignored it; oh, how foolish he was. He remembered the soft padding of shoes on the carpet. He thought he was imagining things.
He thought wrong.
