Summary
Dave is stressed. Balancing two jobs, University, and caring for his kid brother is hard enough as it is. But doing it alone? That's what makes it impossible.
Jack is living his dream life in a place he doesn't want to be in. New York is nice, sure--but it's not Santa Fe. But he's got friends here, a nice place to stay and a couple of jobs that pay well. But it's still not enough to convince him that he is where he needs to be.
But Dave's been coming into the cafe where Jack works lately, and there just might be something here to show them both that life is worth living right where they are.

Summary
It was an illness that could've been avoided easily, if David would've just guarded his heart more closely. Still, he found himself hacking up the contents of his aching lungs in an uncomfortably cramped alleyway with thoughts of Jack Kelly clouding his head, and he realized that there really wasn't any coming back from this. He'd made a mistake and his life was totally and completely ruined over a boy who'd never spare him a second glance.
It was almost laughable, how much David loved Jack. He was a pathetic mess over the boy, with tiny blue flower petals stuck to his lips and chin, and visions of deep brown eyes swimming through his mind. David was lovelorn. Really and truly lovesick.

Summary
David had stopped trying to convince himself he wasn't in love with Jack a long time ago. Even so, he hadn't told anyone. He knew how looked down upon people like David were. It was dirty and perverted for him to think about another man this way.
Still, David couldn't help it. Jack was perfect. He was a confident leader, he was kind to all the younger newsies, he knew how to talk to people. Not to mention how beautiful he was.
Or; Davey is madly in love with Jack, does he feel the same?
