Robby's job wasn't usually interesting, frustrating maybe. He'd picked up two hitchhikers over the course of his over 2-decade-long career as a trucker. After one threw up in his truck, he'd sworn it off. But now, he saw a kid standing on the side of the road, looking like he was on the verge of passing out, and Robby felt too bad to drive by. The kid just stared at him. Robby rolled down his window.
"You need help getting in?"
The kid shook his head and stumbled to the passenger side of the truck, pulling himself up, placing a torn-up backpack on the floor. He closed the door and leaned against the window.

Summary
The first taste of Robby's blood against his tongue is exquisite. Transcendent.
He didn't expect it to be so good. When he fed from his own wrist it was pure bliss. But this? This is beyond that. Beyond what he had the vocabulary to even describe. He's had human blood before, yes, but it was from blood bags. It was old blood, not fresh. Not beautifully warmed to the perfect temperature a body needs to maintain homeostasis. Not exploding with fresh, pure flavor. Not a flavor that was filled with the aura and soul of human life-force.
