    Darry doesn’t like Ponyboy. It’s never exactly been spoken out loud but Pony knows how to read between the lines and it’s clear, just as clear as the themes in Macbeth, that Darry despises his younger brother. Ponyboy didn’t want to care but he wanted Darry to be happy with him.

     

    Maybe it would all be better if he’d been sent to a boys home because he was just a bother.

     

    Or Darry and Ponyboy never manage to make up after the slap.
