“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”
“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.

Summary
The Owl House was meant to be darker at first, but ended up not being so.
This fic is an attempt at bringing back the darkness (not using any beta concepts, but my own original things), by rewriting the story, characters, adding a lot of realism, violence, and completely re-doing the worldbuilding.
The scouts are actual threats, characters are smarter, inconsistencies are fixed, the whole world is incredibly different, and barely any of the canon episodes are used (at least for season 1, and what is used is altered), so don't expect it to follow canon.
If you think you know where certain situations are going based on canon - no you don't.[DISCLAIMER: This has EXTREME canon divergence! Characters have altered personalities to fit the more serious storyline, ages are changed, the worldbuilding is different, and please read the tags for warnings!]
