Izuru actually did succeed in making that Langford’s basilisk, and it turns out to have been this particular arrangement of English-language text. I do not have much time left. Send help. Send hope.
…Basically, a very unique work! Knows exactly what it wants to do and does it very well. Writing style is laconic, clever, and extremely competent at making sentences taste good. Also, Pratchett footnotes. Persuaded me of Kamukoma. Might destroy the world in the sweetest, most hopepunk way possible. 428/101.

I love the idea of Hinata pretending to plan a murder with Komaeda just to keep an eye on him. Because it means he’s worried about Komaeda, both in terms of what he’s capable of and what could happen to him. But ALSO because it means Hinata, like Komaeda, thinks someone working with Komaeda to plot a murder is a real possibility—which would make them the only two people on the island to believe so. Everyone else ends up killing for their own deeply personal reasons, ones where Komaeda-as-victim could never even fit into the picture. But Komaeda fundamentally doesn’t really understand this—and Hinata does know better, but he also takes Komaeda more seriously than others do, so he’s more likely to consider this as an option.

“Ohh!” Komaeda gasps. “Hajime! How fortunate I feel, to be privileged with such a hopeful sight! And how lucky to have found you here!”
“...In my room?”
“Yes! Exactly! You're a hard man to find, Hajime! But when I passed by your cottage, I saw a butterfly land on your door; and as luck would have it, I found a cockroach in my coffee this morning!”
Hajime squints at him. As usual, he’s having a hard time keeping up.
“Please don’t worry about me,” Komaeda says earnestly. “It would be a travesty to waste your feelings on a worthless animal like me. After all, I'm a sort of human cockroach myself! Haha! I felt a sense of kinship, watching his little legs twitch amongst the grounds.”
