No matter how much he wants to make what once flowed through him like blood, he just can’t. When he meets Miya Atsumu, it’s then that it begins to make sense. ---

“That just means ya ain’t listenin’ close enough.”

Summary
Miya Atsumu had a crush on Sakusa Kiyoomi for the longest time, but he never acted on it. After graduation, he promised that he was completely over Kiyoomi — he swore they were never meant to be, and he’d probably never see Kiyoomi again anyways.
A few years later, the very man Atsumu swore he was over walks into the practice gym of the MSBY Black Jackals as the new outside hitter, and Miya Atsumu finds himself back at square one.
A story of how Miya Atsumu fumbled his first crush, but fate decided to give him a second chance at it.

Summary
Sakusa dislocates his knee during a match and ends up getting benched for the whole season.
Atsumu personally decides that he's going to do everything he can to help him until he's better but in that process he learns that his teammate and long time crush actually has a semi-rare medical condition known as Ehler's Danlos Syndrome.
What's even more jarring than the condition itself though, is just how hard the two of them are falling for each other.
(Fun fact: I also have heds so this is probably going to contain a lot of my own personal experiences with the condition but it's worth noting that there's 13 different types of heds and probably about a million different comorbidities that you could have)
Rated M but only for medical details, language, and jokes. The rest of this is supposed to be soft and sweet.

Summary
Magic is all around, even after all this time some lucky individuals, descendents of witches from the ancient times, can master magic, though with some conditions: 1. They must not use their powers on themselves; 2. They can’t force people to fall in love unless it’s through a filter given to someone else; 3. They can’t bring people back to life without taking a life in exchange; 4. On full moons they must reunite in a Sabbath and offer something up to the Arcane.
Kiyoomi moves into a cottage in the woods for some peace and quiet. Naturally, if anyone were in search of a witch living in the woods as far away from society as possible they’d be assuming it to be the broody, pale man, not his blonde himbo, arrogant, loud prick of a neighbour.

Summary
"Do stand up straight, my darling. You were raised with better manners than that."
Perhaps, but Kiyoomi was in no mood to remember them. He had asked, no, begged his parents not to throw him a debutante ball. Nineteen was clearly far too old to be presented into society, and while yes, he was an omega, it was simply unnecessary. But his mother was stubborn and proud, and she heard what she wanted to hear. She was thrilled with her youngest child's presentation, saying there had not been an omega in the family for generations, and it only made sense that her beautiful, doe-eyed youngest son should have the honor.
When Kiyoomi had said, "Mama, please, I should rather kill myself."
His mother had heard, "Mama, please, I should rather kill myself if I do not debut immediately!"

Sakusa eyed him suspiciously. “Why are you suddenly being so nice? It’s kind of creepy.”
Still, he took the drink. Atsumu shrugged, leaning in slightly as his voice dropped. “Call it a thank-ya. For… ya know. Earlier."
“This isn’t poisoned, right?” Sakusa asked, half joking, half serious.
Atsumu burst into laughter. “Of course not, Omi. What do ya take me for?”

" “Seriously though, what’s up yer ass today? And why isn’t it me?” Atsumu padded the intrusive question with a flirty joke and a wink.
Sakusa spun around to face him, still shirtless atop his black sweats, and dark eyes boring into Atsumu. “You need to stop flirting with me,” he growled, taking a step closer to loom over the shorter man, “before I hold you to your words.”
Atsumu blinked. For a moment the only thing in his head was the perfumy scent of Sakusa’s shampoo and the intensity of his gaze. “I can do that,” he finally spat out, more eager than he’d intended to sound. "What if Heated Rivalry but SakuAtsu??? No but really
It was totally casual. Atsumu and Kiyoomi were just fucking to blow off steam as they continued to fight each other and fight with each other on the court. It was totally casual! Even as they slowly got to know more about each other: Kiyoomi's family, Atsumu's people pleasing, being a queer professional athlete in Japan.
These new feelings might just be the most terrifying thing either of them has dealt with.

He fantasizes, even. The possible quiet and praying eyes that could see him undressed or getting dressed cause his face to warm.

Summary
"You should know how to do this," the other said, and he was probably right. Atsumu should watch the fingers on his chest, but instead he mapped the other's face that he was finally able to get a good look at. Everything about this man was pure contrast; black hair, black eyes, pale lips and a complexion so light it fit the temperature of his hands.
"Never had ta learn it," he said and watched the perfectly arched eyebrow crowned with two moles twitch in response. "Ya chose me, despite knowin' I probably don't know a lot of the things ya expect me ta know. Why?"
"Because you were the only beta," Kiyoomi answered without hesitation and pulled the knot around Atsumu's neck tight, pulling on it until it was straight and lowered his collar again. He still sounded tired, then he huffed in annoyance and the frown from before was back on his face. "I have enough of alphas."

Atsumu lowered himself to the floor and hugged his knees. Kiyoomi followed suit, but he put some distance between them. He couldn’t know how Atsumu was reacting precisely, though he’d dealt with subs before.
Atsumu would likely not cling to him and ask to be comforted.
Lo and behold, he was wrong. What unfolded next left Kiyoomi feeling a mixture of bewildered and…pleased. It began with Atsumu letting out a sound too soft to belong to him at all and ended up with him crawling into Kiyoomi’s personal space.
His eyes were rimmed with tears, his breaths shallow. “Omi,” he said, his voice wan, “please.”
Nothing more. Just that word. In that voice. A voice that tugged at all of Kiyoomi’s instinct, a voice that told him to protect.
