Margaret is 30, and thinks she might kill Frank Burns. She is an eon, has always existed, and can hardly even feel her hands anymore. Pierce tells her they're there, though, and maybe she can trust him.All her life, Margaret Houlihan has been good at playing games. When reality hurts, when it scares her, why not just step into a role, make the pain go away? Play a game, please whatever man that happens to be watching.

"What're you thinking, kid?"
Helen. Margaret still isn't used to her being so close rather than connected by letters that forced her to read between the lines, that challenged her to finally be brave enough to admit why her stomach flipped and flopped like a gymnast when she thought about her for too long. Now she's here. In fact, she's been here for three months. And two months ago, she stopped sleeping in the guest bedroom.
"I can't decide. Here, you do it." Margaret spins around with a bright smile that pulls at her lips just enough to hurt. "Which one do you like best?"
Helen narrows her eyes thoughtfully, but it's Margaret's face she's studying, not the clothes. She sees it, then, how hard Margaret's trying. How desperate she is to keep the creeping tendrils of anxiety out of her chest about what their neighbors might think if they saw her enjoying a picnic with Helen in something other than a beautiful sundress.

As Margaret struggles through a mire of complicated feelings about how she wants the world to see her, Helen is right there by her side. And if she happens to bring a particularly effective distraction into the fitting room with Margaret, then so be it.

“Well don’t linger. You’ll let in a chill.” There was movement Hawk could just make out in the blue moonlight. His dad lifting the comforter for him. Hawkeye didn’t hesitate, burrowing under like he was a child again.
After his mom died, after he found out his mom died, there was a period where he couldn’t sleep alone. At first his dad had sat in an armchair by his bed, quietly reading while he waited for his son to fall asleep. But after too many nights drifting off in the chair and going around the next day with a crick in his neck, when it became apparent that the issue wouldn’t settle quickly, he brought him into his own bed.
The night before Hawkeye leaves for San Francisco, he needs reassurance from his dad.

Summary
When her father cancels their plans to meet in Tokyo, something shifts in Margaret. A door opens. A voice from deep within, one she has tried her best to quell for so many years, gets louder and louder. The voice asking questions, questions with edges sharp enough to draw blood. Why doesn't he see, why didn't he stay, why is she never his first choice? Is the path her father set her out on a long time ago really the one she wants to keep walking? And once that door opens, it's impossible to force shut again.
Set during the end of the show, this story explores how Margaret came to make the decision to go back to work in the States, in a hospital, and finally step out from under the shadow of her father.

It’s a Tuesday when the invitation arrives, postmarked Missouri from Mrs. Sherman Potter. It’s addressed to “Captain Dr. Hunnicutt” on the envelope, the copperplate warm and majestic all at once, but it opens with “Dear BJ” in Potter’s cramped hand.
The invitation is to come and celebrate Potter’s official retirement from the US Army, and to meet the Potter family properly. “War takes a lot from all of us,” it says, “but don’t let it take real, honest human connection from you, too. Oh, and bring that wife and kid of yours, if they can stand the trip. The grandkids are always looking for more rabble rousers to drag into their shenanigans.“
