Summary
Dream had grown up in an empty house. Being an only child and having a mother that liked her job more than making sure you were okay tended to do that to you.
And it was...It was fine. He'd figured out how to deal with it by now and he'd long since figured out how to make sure people didn't suspect anything.
At least, he had figured out how to do that part when thinking normally. Doing it while sick out of his mind and running off a craving for some kind of affection was an entirely different story.

Summary
A prompt from my discord that I made slight modifications to :)
prompt: (this takes place during exile) one evening, Dream is unusually quiet while visiting Tommy in exile, and even forgoes blowing up his belongings in favor of wandering off somewhere. Curious and suspicious, Tommy sneaks after him, only to watch in shock as Dream breaks down crying, all alone in the middle of a field. Despite everything between them, he intervenes when Dream tries to hurt himself, and finds out from the man that his two best friends, Sapnap and George, have turned on him based solely on Quackity, a stranger’s, word. Tommy can relate to this, what with being exiled by Tubbo, and they end up forming a rather awkward, tentative friendship. Exile becomes more like a peaceful vacation of sorts, with Dream building Tommy a nice cabin to replace the tent he was staying in, and eventually Dream stops going back to the mainland at all, just living peacefully with Tommy in logsteadshire
Until Tubbo and the others come looking for Tommy.
