“Yes, Kacchan?” he replied, just as quietly.
Kacchan didn’t speak right away. Izuku waited, counting in his head.
Thump, thump, thump. One, two, three.
“Back there, before you brought me here… you kissed me.”

Then Katsuki says, and Izuku has no idea how he sounds when he does, ‘I’m in love with him and he’s an idiot.’
Or; Katsuki confesses that he's in love with Izuku on live television. Izuku didn't know, and now has a lot to figure out.

Summary
Katsuki melts, just a bit, as Izuku smiles brightly and purrs at him. His nails scratch pleasantly at his scalp, until Katsuki's head starts lolling and swaying with the gentle motions.
If he had a tail, it would be wagging.
He doesn't even get to bask in the pleasant feeling buzzing through his gut when a furious-smelling odor burns itself into his nostrils.
Katsuki yanks back, lifting his hands off of Izuku as if they'd been zapped. Aizawa stands at the gate, arms crossed and looking like he'd just caught someone trying to rob him.
Well… technically it was true?

Summary
They get back to school just a little after sunrise, sleepless and buzzing, with grass and dead leaves in their hair. Their classmates glance curiously between them but don’t ask. Katsuki and Izuku have always been a unit unto themselves, two halves of an inexplicable relationship that started way before UA and will last way after they leave. Nobody questions it. Nobody cares, probably, but Izuku indulges the thought that maybe he and his Kacchan are just a constant, an unremarkable part of the furniture that surprises nobody because the way they are is just right.
They move in together, after a while. Katsuki joins Best Jeanist and Izuku trains under Gran Torino. They still take comfort in each other every day, curl up in bed and kiss and talk about how life is going. Their live are tumultuous, after all, what with villains and training and rescuing people every week. It’s nice to have something certain. At the end of a day filled with violence and adrenaline, Izuku knows he can come home to someone concrete.
It’s perfect. Being a hero is scary and grueling and uncertain, but this part is just right.
And then, one day, a child dies in Izuku’s arms.

The cafe goes silent as Japan’s number one hero (this week) stood hacking and coughing a lung from his throat, choking, pounding a fist to his own chest whilst simultaneously trying to hide an impeding hard-on in hopes of recovery.
Izuku survives, but only out of fear of his obituary reading death by iced coffee.

“Kacchan,” Izuku says, pressing the cool tip of his nose into Katsuki’s throat. His lips are cool too, and wet, when they follow. “Do you…do you want—” His fingers press into Katsuki’s waist, and it feels nice, that touch. But Katsuki’s heart is thudding out against his ribcage from inside with enough force to scare him. “Can I…?” Izuku’s hand slides under Katsuki’s shirt, strokes over the small of his back, and then walks down to the waistband of his sweats.
He’s waiting for Katsuki now. But the longer Katsuki thinks about how he needs to answer, the less he’s able to answer, and he’s—Izuku is so hesitant. He’s so careful when he brushes his fingertips over the front of his pants, and Katsuki tenses up in an instant.
“Izuku—fuck, not—not today, I—” He tries to shuffle Izuku back, further away from his lap to give himself space.
Izuku’s face is transparent. So easy to see the surprise and disappointment flash across it before resignation sets in. “Okay,” he whispers, sitting back. His hands are back on Katsuki’s shoulders, and even that feels like too much right now. “Sorry, Kacchan.”
