"Aw, geez, Abernathy," Burdock sighs. Blair gives a nod of his head, his expression just as exasperated.
"Yep. He's been like that since she first sat down."
Haymitch Abernathy— someone who Burdock used to think was cool, who he used to actually look up to— was up in the branches of the schoolhouse's old sycamore tree, lying on his stomach against one of the limbs. His chin is propped up on his folded arms, and he's wearing an expression that Burdock's memaw would call "starry-eyed," his lips curved in a dopey smile as he stares down at Lenore Dove, who's leaning back against the tree trunk, cloth-bound book in hand and brow furrowed in thought, apparently completely unaware of Haymitch's presence above her.

When he cracks his eyes open, Annie Cresta is leaning over him.
Except it’s not actually Annie. Not in any way that matters at least. This version is too watery, far too washed out and faint to be his Annie. His Annie is vibrant and lovely and hopefully very very far from the Capitol right now.
Finnick thinks rather morbidly that he must have lost a lot of blood if he’s hallucinating her already.

His grin only widens, his arms tightening even further around her as he dodges her lips and places a flurry of kisses over her nose and cheeks, his heart racing in his chest when her giggling grows louder, her hands shoving playfully at his chest until he finally releases her, moving to lean back against the wall as she hurries to the mirror, her hands smoothing the wrinkles on her green dress that had begun to form from his hold on her.
"I wanted to wish you good luck at your performance tonight," he says. "I wanted to catch you before you got here, but Hattie's work took longer than I thought, so I figured-"
"You'd climb up the side of the Mayor's house to see me?" she cuts in, her voice amused and soft with affection.
