Summary
“I thought it was sweet, when your boyfriend left it. You must really be working hard.”
“My,” Connor runs a gentle fingertip over the sketched arc of his nose. Does he really look that delicate? That… beautiful? “My boyfriend?”
The girl grins. “Yeah, he came in this morning and he asked me to give this to you if you stop by. He’s so romantic. You’re so lucky!”
Connor’s heart thunders. “I am?” -

Summary
Connor does wonder if Hank knows the night he killed him was also the first night he really felt alive, even if he did everything he could to hide it, to answer Hank’s questions the way he knew he should. He wonders if Hank knows that it wasn’t just the dying that hurt, but that Hank only did it because he was so sure Connor was just a machine. For all their differences, Connor knows Hank wouldn’t kill someone.
He just didn’t think Connor was someone.
~~
In November 2038, after they went to Eden Club, Hank shot Connor in Riverside Park. Connor has never forgiven him for it.
But against the backdrop of their own regrets and an android murder case that's larger and more complicated than it first seems, Hank and Connor find each other again when Connor is assigned to the DPD by a government workplace placement program for androids.

Summary
Hank isn't trying to be in control, Connor realizes a moment later. He's trying to be gentle.
And that feels even more foreign, because no one has ever worried about being careful with him. He was designed to look gentle when he needs to but not to truly be it, and so no one, not CyberLife or the Amanda AI or anyone after, has ever worried about taking care of him. Even at the squat with the other deviants, he's the lucky one with the unique face model, he's the one who can leave and work and at least pretend. The other androids love him - they're the only family any of them will ever have - but he's always the one taking care of them.
"Hey," Hank says, running a hand down Connor's arm. "You okay?"
"I'm okay," Connor whispers, and he thinks he means it.
~~
Connor deviated before ever being assigned to the DPD. He fought with Jericho during the revolution, and they failed. He's trapped in Detroit with the remaining deviants, wandering and aimless and taking unnecessary risks to feel alive.
So when he meets Lieutenant Anderson at a bar, a hook up seems like just the way to go, even if it does end up meaning so much more.

Summary
Part 1: In the wake of the Android Revolution, biocomponents and android parts become scarce, and a dangerous black market arises.
Hank and Connor are assigned to the android trafficking cases to track down and stop their alarming escalation. Laws are slow to change, androids do not feel safe, and Cyberlife still retains full control over the technology and supply. Biocomponents for rare android models, like the RK line, are nearly non-existent.
People are desperate. Connor is relentless. Hank is not okay. Things go to hell.
Part 2: Barely escaping the heinous trafficking crime, Connor’s condition unexpectedly takes a turn for the worse, and there are no compatible parts to fix the escalating damage.
Desperate, Hank - and Markus - turn to the last person they want involved in all this for help.
Disturbing secrets about Cyberlife and Connor’s creation come to light. Fear and paranoia soon permeate New Jericho like a plague, and Markus makes a decision that causes widespread pandemonium.

Summary
This was a bad idea from the beginning. Connor had been well aware of that when he'd made the decision to forge and lie his way into the DPD in the first place, after more than a month of mulling the idea over.
One month of existing as a machine. Two months now of deviancy. A mere three months of life he endangers every time he steps into the station.
Being thrust back into investigating deviants may feel like a cosmic joke, but he thinks it's also an opportunity.
He'd rather act as a sleeper cell in this investigation than leave the fates of these deviants up to humans alone.

Summary
When Connor first realizes he is experiencing panic attacks, the revelation is… troubling. Not least because he had yet to define that category of emotion in his code.
After a new case crosses his and Hank's desks concerning a serial torturer of androids, it becomes increasingly difficult to pretend his programming can handle being exposed to so much misery.
