His hand is steadily aching. Will says, “You shouldn’t have punched him.”
Mike pushes his fingers into his thighs. “That’s stupid.”
“I wish you didn’t,” Will readjusts. He brings up a hand to hold Mike’s face again, fingers a little damp where they press against his cheek, his jaw. Mike wants to lean into it. “He isn’t – he doesn’t bother me anymore, you know. What he says. It doesn’t matter. He doesn’t matter.”
Mike shrugs. “I don’t regret it,” he says, and Will leans away, looks at him properly. “I’d do it again.”
Mike gets hurt, and Will fixes him up, in more ways than one.

“So. The church?” Miike asked.
“The church.” Will said firmly.
The building radiated with a sort of holy innocence, looking almost untouched and definitely out of place in the Upside Down. Will jiggled the front door handle and groaned. “Locked.” He thought for a moment. “Stand back, Mike.”
Mike did, watching Will back up a few feet. “What are you-”
Will began in a running start before throwing the weight of his body against the door with a bang. The door swung open but Will kept his balance, wincing. “That was loud. And kind of stupid.”
“Are you kidding me?” Mike stared at him in a sort of awe. “I’ve only ever seen people do that in movies. Holy shit. That was epic.”
“Oh shut up.” Will blushed. “It was nothing.” As they made their way into the church, Will took off his jacket, slinging it over his shoulder and stretching out his arm. Mike watched the muscles in his back strain against his t-shirt, his biceps and lats bulge from the simple stretch. Mike swallowed, hard.
“Hey, it’s not too bad in here.”

He can't help the way he turns bright red when Will laughs at this. Nor can he help the indignant squawk he let's out when Will shoves him from on top of him until he's laying on his back next to him.
Will turns over, throwing a lazy leg over Mike's hips as he rests his head on his chest and cuddles against his side.

“I wouldn’t be so sure,” Chance counters softly, and Will hates the way his heart leaps up into his throat and that, for a split moment, he feels like he’s floating. He feels hope.
He looks back at Chance, who starts speaking without being prompted. “This is going to sound crazy, but you have to trust me, okay?” There’s a pause where Will nods hesitantly. “We could act like we’re dating, you know, to make him jealous.”
Will feels like he’s been slapped across the face. “What?”
