It’s true. Telemachus is receiving nothing for this apart from his own pleasure. There was no transaction, no deal he had struck with Antinous to allow himself to be used in such a way. All he’d done was ask, beg, as prettily as he could and talk about how badly being ground beneath Antinous’ power would turn him on. It had seemed like such a good idea at the time.

There were pros and cons to being a younger sibling. Being born second meant that your parents already had one trial run to figure out how things worked. It meant there was less pressure. But it also led to less attention when anything regarding the future was discussed. Feeling less important. And when your brother gets chosen by the goddess of war to be a student at 10, becomes king when he’s 13, comes up with a plan to prevent a war at 17, gets married to a half-nymph Spartan princess at 19, and has a son as a first born at 23…it’s easy to feel significantly less important.
But one has to be optimistic. Grateful, even, for the joy that their family is given through their older sibling.
But Ctimene couldn’t do that.
Not when it seemed like the gods themselves were doing everything in their power to keep her from ever being anything like him.

Telemachus' father Odysseus vanished when his plane went down over the Appalachian mountains seven years ago, and no one has seen him since. Unfortunately, this means his story is like catnip to every conspiracy theorist in a thousand mile radius. Telemachus is just trying to keep these losers from re-traumatizing his mom- and himself, to be perfectly honest- but some of them are getting increasingly persistent. One in particular is adamant about getting Telemachus alone for an interview. At least, Telemachus really hopes it's just for an interview. He'd rather be focusing on other things...like the massive crush he's been nurturing for his childhood best friend.
