“I’m really sorry,” he said for the millionth time. Was there anything he could say to make this better? “I shouldn’t have come home with you,” he started, sweating under her sudden glare. “I’m… uh—I’m not over my ex.”
“Yeah?” The girl sniffled. “Well, then, that just fixes everything.”
Dazai opened his mouth to apologize again, but he knew it wouldn’t have done anything.
OR
After trying (and failing) to get over Fyodor by hooking up with someone else, Dazai makes his way back to his dorm, where neither him nor Fyodor have dared to stay since their falling out. Since, the universe hates him, Fyodor seemed to have had the same idea as him.

Fyodor ignored her, hoping that the woman looked crazy to any bystanders.
“I know it’s you,” Dazai called again, annoyance lacing her tone. Fyodor felt almost sure that she didn’t, that this was just a hunch. She’d managed to stay very well off of people’s radars, so there wasn’t any way in Hell that Dazai “knew” anything.

Maybe it was a good thing that this detention was so long after all. Maybe he could deal with seven more nights of doing this to Fyodor. Was it just his sadistic way of releasing some of the anger that his weird attraction to Fyodor had stirred up in him? Uh… probably. Sure. No matter.

“Fyodor,” Sigma urged. “Get up, get up, now—I don’t think he’s feeling well.”
It was actually kind of perfect. He’d meant to cover his mouth to stop any stupidly incriminating expression from becoming too apparent to the others at the table, but “he’s about to vomit” worked well, too. Fyodor, naturally, jumped away from Dazai like he was made of lava, and Dazai shimmied out of the booth as quickly as he could, running toward the bathroom to really sell it.
He got out of there too fast for anyone to catch a glimpse of the rather obvious tent at the front of his pants. At least, he fucking hoped he did.

Dazai's crush on Fyodor is growing harder to manage, especially when he's trying so hard to keep it a secret from his friends.

oh...................................my god.
never in my life have i cried over a fanfic. not once until cash dropped this absolute GUT PUNCH of a masterpiece.
the way that it's not apparent that anything will get better while it's happening because that is exactly how it must feel for these characters? CRAZY. i am TRYING to find more coherent things to say about this fic that aren't just me screaming unintelligibly into the void, but it's proving to be quite the challenge because of how it absolutely wrecked me. i cried all the way through and was so overjoyed at the conclusion of it that i cried even harder.
