Those are the words he spoke to Will that night on Halloween, and he hasn't taken them back. Half of it is because he truly wanted to make Will happy in the moment, and the other half is because he *has* become crazy, thanks to Will Byers.
And he doesn't know when his brain will stop with this, because truly, it's not needed when the world is about to end. But God, does he want to admit these complicated, delicious feelings?
