“There is no we,” Suguru cuts him off, a certain kind of finality etched into his tone. He shoves his hands into his pockets, turns on his heels.
And Satoru watches him go, watches him disappear into the crowd of people moving around them.

Satoru rattled out the words, talking fast, like he was expecting to be caught doing something he wasn't supposed to, and needed to get done before that happened. Except that then he fell quiet and fidgeted again.
One-sidedly. Something about the phrase stuck out to Suguru. What sort of slavery isn't one-sided? he asked himself, like it was a riddle.
