Kaeya prays his hands aren’t starting to tremble again.
“How stupid can you be? The Cavalry Captain running around with infected wounds as if he doesn’t have a fully stocked infirmary right around the corner?”
Now he’s sure his hands are trembling.
“I’ve literally fought an Abyss Mage with broken ribs before, I think I’ll be fine, Mom.”
“I don’t care-”
“Exactly. So why are you even making a big fuss about this? We don’t know each other well enough for me to invoke such a reaction out of you, Master Diluc.” His tone is teasing, goading.
And it works.
Diluc stares at him blankly before exiting the tavern. Kaeya tends to his own wounds.

Sami blinks, and it clicks. He steps forward to rest a hand upon Gunther’s shoulder, kneading it lightly with his thumb.
“He doesn’t need to hate himself,” Sami whispers. “And neither do you.”
Gunther exhales through his nose, brushing Sami away. “I don’t deserve the kindness. Other people do. Like Jey. Like…you.”
Despite himself, Sami feels a smile spreading across his lips.
“Goddamn,” he says, shaking his head. Gunther frowns.
“What?”
“You’re just like Jey,” Sami says, chuckling. “My God, that’s exactly what he would say. It’s amazing. Despite everything, deep down, you two are…exactly the same.”
-After a few months rehabbing, Gunther returns to RAW - and now it's Jey who needs him. But when Gunther struggles to reach out, it's Sami who has to get through to them both.
