He knew that going back to High Command would be the thing to kill him off, he’d called it from the very start, and yet he took the position regardless and now he was losing his mind. It was his own fault, Richard told him not to do it but he still accepted the offer from Pred and now he was standing in the middle of the road with his vest cast aside and a heavy rifle held in shaky hands, reeling from the fact that his dead son had just stood before him and spoke.
