    As an operative for Talamasca, Guy keeps meeting Jasper, a vampire whose hatred for the Talamasca is entirely warranted.

    Despite their inherent conflict, a dangerous spark ignites between them, ensuring that their every meeting ends the same way: with their bodies entwined, his flesh pierced by fangs. Each time, Guy promises himself it's the last one; a declaration he’s made so often it’s less a promise and more of a habit now.

    He ought to despise and fear Jasper. He understands this. And he knows Jasper has all the reasons to despise him. Thus, every meeting brings him this chilling thought that tonight, he will take his life after all. And yet, his heart stubbornly keeps beating.

    The reason behind it eludes him.

    Perhaps, he does care, cares so much he bleeds until there is none of him left. Perhaps, Sunday has been forged for it; to do nothing but care and feel and carry it, until he forgets where he ends and the world begins. Perhaps, there was an error in his assemblage, a sort of incorrigible flaw, and that is why the very thing he was created for - to carry the world on his shoulders towards a better future - is the one thing he failed so spectacularly at. It's a pervasive thought, that maybe to some degree he is incomplete. Though that matters not because the things he'd done were all on his own volition.

    At the very least, the pain of being the sole woken being in the universe served a purpose. Now, Sunday just aches, and it's just as pointless as if he didn't.

    Or, Sunday struggles with his place on Astral Express.

    “You need to understand that I was out of options,” Zhongli quietly said. “I would never do such a thing without your consent if it wasn’t the only way I could imagine saving your life without endangering anyone else’s.”

    Childe didn’t reply for a moment, reluctantly deflating from an attacking position. He was still pissed, that much was true, but he needed to know what his situation was. What sort of contract could have possibly tied him to Zhongli that wouldn’t make him a deserter? What sort of bond they could have made that Tsaritsa wouldn’t dare to challenge? Unless…

    The realisation dawned at him with a horrible thud of his heart, at the same time as Zhongli said it out loud, finalising Childe’s fate. “That being said… I initiated an adeptal marriage contract between us.”

    Childe would have laughed until he choked if he didn’t have the most violent urge to cry.

    Or, saving Childe's life, Zhongli accidentally gets him into an adeptal marriage, which has very interesting consequences for Childe and his still broken heart.

    Childe didn’t have to look - he knew the owner of the dagger. He knew every freckle of his sunkissed skin, he knew every ugly battle scar under his ribs and on his shoulders. He knew the bright juicy orange of his hair was now dampened with sweat and bleak from dust and lack of sunlight. He turned to make sure he still remembered because sometimes he looked in the mirror and couldn’t find his own reflection.

    Instead, he sees a boy in his teenage years, his hands tightly wrapped in bloody bandages and throat raw with dehydration. The boy’s name was Ajax, and despite having no way of confirming it, Childe knew he was fourteen years old.

    Or, Childe encounters a ley line memory of himself after getting out of the Abyss and is forced to confront his hurt inner child - quite literally.
