Summary
Ximena Talis liked to think she’d known her son better than most. He’d worn his heart on his sleeve, yes, but he’d always been a mama’s boy at his very core.
Now? Ximena wasn’t so sure. As she and Caitlyn emptied Jayce’s apartment after his untimely end, she found herself learning things she’d never been privy to about her son’s life.

Summary
Loving Viktor is easy, Jayce thinks. Easier than breathing, easier than existing. He would do anything for Viktor, who is his best friend and closest confidant. His partner in all ways but one.
However, there are some things he simply cannot do, like convincing the council to fund Viktor’s passion project. As a result, Viktor becomes a surrogate for hire, and Jayce must watch him go through the trials of pregnancy, all while trying to support him the best he can without accidentally confessing his feelings.

Summary
The Undercity holds many mysteries, but none are quite so terrifying as what lurks in the unfiltered drinking water. When allowed to grow and thrive in a healthy host and given decades to mature, the illness that follows is something straight from a nightmare. Raw and painful to endure and difficult to watch from the outside.
When Viktor is stricken with this sickness, likely picked up from a childhood spent near the fissures, Jayce must keep himself together while racing the clock against the monster taking root inside of the man he loves.

There are nightbloom flowers growing in Viktor’s lungs, thriving on his unrequited love for his best friend and slowly suffocating him to death. As he lays on the bathroom floor in the midst of a ruthless coughing attack, somber and cold, he wishes Jayce could be there to soothe him.

“I’m so sorry,” he says again. He clamps a hand over his mouth. “But I…ah. Think I am going to throw up.”
Jayce scrambles back.
“What?!”
Viktor makes a strangled sound, gag reflex taking over. Jayce lunges for…things. Trash can, hoodie. His own cupped hands, apparently.
But before he can even find the side of the bed, Viktor politely gathers the duvet out of the way, folds in half, and vomits all over it anyway.
There's a stretch of profound silence. Then Jayce says, very intelligently: “Okay.”

Or: Jayce assumes the most complicated part about hooking up with Viktor will be the morning after. He’s right but also so, so wrong.

Summary
Jayce and Viktor are really good at a lot of things–loving each other coming first. Their tiny bundle of joy is the perfect manifestation of it.
Still, for all the things they do right, maintaining balance ever since the birth feels… steep.
Aside from the general mess, endless dirty diapers, and the quick, expeditive showers that come with parenthood, they never truly anticipated the kind of raw vulnerability that would surface in them.
(or: postpartum is not easy on Viktor, and Jayce could use a hug too.)
