“What do you want, Vi? Truly?”
Her wife sighs. Stepping back, she motions for the shampoo.
“I wouldn’t mind having an ankle biter or two with you.” Caitlyn huffs, rolling her eyes. Vi smiles. “I want to, but-”
Her expression falls, and Caitlyn watches her as she emulsifies the shampoo in her palms. Vi starts with her ends, massaging the soap into Caitlyn’s hair.
“I never thought that I would want to. And, if I did, I never thought my dad and my brothers wouldn’t be there to see it.”
Or: The aftermath of the council bombing where Vi and Caitlyn learn to trust one another, work through a relationship, marriage, and a baby.

The door bursts open again, Vi storming through. She doesn’t look at any of them, positively fuming.
Vander catches the redness on her forearm, the grip of a hand. She marches downstairs. Claggor watches her as they all do, the distress showing plain on his face.
“We got into trouble. Mylo started something with a few guys, and the enforcers got wind of it. Powder was nearby during the whole thing. Mylo got away but they accidentally led the enforcers right to us.”
“She wasn't fast enough."
Or: The fight in Vi and Powder's childhood that leads to their final separation in adulthood. Inspired by the "Enemy" music video.

Summary
“Vi?” Caitlyn leans forward, pushing her bangs from her face, and tucking them behind her ear. Some of them fall out, their edges dipping into white water.
“Hmm?”
“Is it okay if I wash your hair?”
Vi’s eyes find hers, cobalt blue. She nods.
There’s a flicker of emotion in Caitlyn’s eyes that she doesn’t know what to make of, a pause, one step further into territory they haven’t encroached upon. Vi reluctantly unfolds, her spine straightening as she locks eyes with Caitlyn.
Open.
Unguarded.
Everything seems louder as hands find her shoulders, a gentle tone that commands her as she leans back into them. Vi gives away what little protection she has, sinking.
Or: After the war, Caitlyn takes Vi back to the Kiramman Manor and tries to convince her she's worth taking care of.

Summary
When Vi can no longer cry, she looks up. Her vision adjusts to the darkness in the tunnel, the pale stream of light coming from the top of the ladder is gone. There’s an unfamiliar ache in her throat, a rawness she isn’t accustomed to feeling in her chest.
That’s the worst part of all of this. She isn’t angry, she’s - devastated? Frustrated? Her hands shake when she places them on the ground, cramped from holding her side. The feeling of Caitlyn’s rifle butt washes over her skin.
Rejection. That’s what this is.
Or: The descent into PitFighter madness, set in Season 02, Act 2.

“Uh, yeah? I saved you from getting shanked in the shower, so fair’s fair. What’s your deal, topside?”
“Caitlyn,” she says. That isn’t right. That wasn’t the answer Vi was after. Names are easily given away but so seldomly remembered in Stillwater, but it echoes in Vi’s head. She almost doesn’t hear the actual answer. “And though I have no doubt a thousand people have given this answer before, I did nothing. I was doing my job, and then I was here. No trial. No sentencing. No crime to speak of.”

Her sister throws out her arms in exaggeration. “But Vi, it’s already begun! I have to rise to the challenge! We can’t lose again or we’ll have to move, out of shame! We could never show our faces here again.”
“I’m sure Vander would take us in,” she shoots back dryly and turns to look across the street where Jinx is pointing, “and aren’t you being just a little dramatic—”
