Harris stopped talking because Shane had frozen. Completely frozen. His glass halted halfway to his lips. His eyes went wide and fixed on a point on the far wall. The blush that had been a soft pink bloomed into a scarlet tide that crept from his neckline to the roots of his hair.
Ilya, watching him, threw his head back and burst out laughing.

He doubted that Ilya, Anya, Harris, Coach Wiebe, his parents, The Irina Foundation, Rose, or even the gas station attendant down the road from their house could handle the idea of Shane looking at the black hole in his mind. It would swallow him. Everything would get out of control again.

Shane Hollander is Ilya Rozanov's first true love. Before Shane, hook ups were just another vice, another cigarette to smoke, another vodka to down. It didn't really make him feel anything, other than form of release, a method to escape the probably bad thoughts in his head, It never meant anything other than that.
Now, sex was all about Shane. Making him happy, making him feel cared for. That was always his goal, the only thing on his mind. It was never a problem before, in-fact, it had become the one thing Ilya was proudest of. Not the Stanley cups, not any of the awards or fancy cars. His greatest accomplishment in life was the sense of security and safety he provided for Shane.
But now, Shane wants to spend the week in the cottage catering to Ilya's needs, showing how much he really appreciates all of Ilya's hard work.. but he can't do that until Ilya trusts him enough to let go. Shane is ready to take care of his man, but how will Ilya truly breakdown all the feelings he has inside to make it happen?
