Malik is an eagle that finds himself falling in love with a human. It seems like a stupid and hopeless situation until he finds a Djinn that makes a bet with him. The Djinn will turn him human and If he can get Altair to fall in love with him in a week then he can stay human and have one wish but if he can't then he has to serve the Djinn for the rest of his life.

Desmond is used to being alone. He's been alone for most of his life from the minute he decided his parents were crazy. He'd pulled back then, at fifteen, and had never quite allowed himself to grow close to anyone after that. A mixture of the paranoia of enemies he didn't really believe in mixed up with the fear that he was still being tracked had kept him distant from most people as he wandered the States.

Lan Zhan clamped both hands over his own mouth to stop the pained noise that threatened to escape him. Hot tears spilled down his face as he watched the young, safe, and whole boy sleep. His stomach cramped with the effort of holding the sound in, but he’d sooner die than wake Wei Ying up.
