Izuku is a brilliant bio-scientist who can't take care of himself and keeps ALMOST DYING or getting accidentally LEFT BEHIND ON RANDOM PLANETS or BLOWING UP THE LAB because he got too immersed into whatever highly complicated experiment he is running in his head in parallel with whatever is happening around him.
Katsuki is a terrifyingly competent security officer who is defying the stereotypes of redshirts dying left and right because he is actually smart and prepared for any contingency. Not a people person though: he is no-bullshit, rough at the edges and hot tempered, TOS classic, really. He can afford it.
You know what would be funny? If Katsuki got assigned to safeguard Izuku's existence for a wee while, while Izuku is going around doing his own thing, blowing up labs, tasting potential poisons, all that jazz, and treating Katsuki as a particularly useful but otherwise unremarkable lab equipment.
I am sneezing like crazy, and this is my sweet fever dream, okay?

So, I asked chatGPT to impersonate Garak and spent half the night exchanging letters with him on behalf of Julian. It escalated, okay?
I have then gently rewrote it as needed (chatGPT tends to get confused, and to get overly repetitive), added on to it, and here we are.Set post-canon. "Stitch in time" didn't happen. Garak left DS9 and pretty much disappeared, trying to bury himself in work and forget about Julian and Ezri. His plan backfired, and so he finally gives up and writes a (honestly, pathetic) letter, full of longing and jealousy. Julian calls him out on it. And so it starts.
