"What exactly did you think that would accomplish, little bird?" Dream asks, controlled and even in the way that sets off every fucking alarm bell in Tommy's head. "I'm curious, really."
He can't speak. His throat feels so tight he can barely breathe. He knows how Dream punishes him for minor things, what's going to happen now? What has he gotten himself into?
"You were doing pretty well. I'm kind of disappointed." He releases his wrist, and he draws it close to his chest, rubbing where his fingers were resting on his skin. He can almost still feel them. "Come on."
His hand lands on the back of his neck, nails digging into the skin and making him shudder. He stumbles over his feet as he's guided/pushed in the rough direction of his tent.
"Dream?" Tommy manages to squeak out. "I-I... I'm sorry. I was just-- angry, I guess. I'm really sorry--"
His hand slides up to take a handful of his hair. It tightens to the point of bringing tears to his eyes and he chokes on a sob, his own breath.
"Do yourself a favor and shut up, Tommy."
