There’s just something so pathetic about the way Armand looks right now—the way he’s writhing in the rubble, pained and lethargic, like he’s genuinely struggling to move. Part of Daniel wants to stay and see how this pans out. Of course, the guy has just proven himself to be a legendary liar, so the whole “wounded animal” shtick could be total bullshit. Daniel could be two seconds away from having his jugular ripped out. So, another part of Daniel, the smarter part—the part that’s causing his heart to race and the tremor in his right hand to intensify—is telling him to listen to Raglan James for once and run!
But still, Armand really doesn’t look like he’s in any shape to pounce on Daniel and rip out his jugular. And the thing is… Daniel had another dream, the night he unearthed the horrors of Divisadero Street. Fragmented flashbacks. Nothing cohesive. Much like the ones he’d had of Armand tormenting him—although this one was perhaps even more unsettling.

"Thank you for joining me, Atsushi-kun," Mori says, still smiling, and Atsushi feels revulsion drip down his spine, pooling in his lower back. "I realize we haven't had much opportunity to speak and that's an oversight on my part that I'd quite like to remedy." A pause and an appropriately chagrined look, and then, "If you're amicable?"
As if it matters.
Atsushi's jaw has gone so tight that when he opens his mouth to speak his molars grind against one another. He manages to say, dryly but not derisively—not when he knows what’s at stake: "You're the boss."
In which, Atsushi is transferred to the Port Mafia. It takes some time for him to realize that Mori isn't so much in the habit of destroying lives as he is gently encouraging people to destroy their own.

After Lestat makes a show of her before drinking the poor, pleading woman he made his victim when Louis refused to, Louis decides to ignore Lestat for the sake of his own mind. Little did he know, when he chose to stay home instead of following Lestat to the opera, it would trigger a chain of events that only Lestat could create--and he would leave it up to Lestat to find his way out.

He sees himself as the boy sees him. Blurry, at first. Indistinguishable shapes, separated only by the glow of his eyes.
And then like a veil lifting, he comes into focus. He becomes resplendent. He becomes ghastly. For some unknown reason, those two things merge into one concept.
This boy thinks he’s never seen something more aweing. Armand, who kicked him until he cried. Who choked him until his vision went black. Who lifted him in the air, earlier, and threw him to the floor. Again, and again.
It’s baffling.
“A complete lack of self-preservation. A perversion towards that which harms you; is that what makes you fascinating?”
Alternatively: Armand serves six days of penance. Daniel spends six days realizing just how fucked up he really is.
