Summary
Buck’s jaw clenches. “This isn’t you.”
Eddie’s smile turns mean, borderline unrecognizable even to himself. Buck is right, this isn’t him. It doesn’t even sound like his voice. But he’s exhausted. He’s hurt. And he’s done pretending there’s a way out of this that doesn’t involve blood in the water—they’re too far gone for that.
This wasn’t the plan, but he doesn’t pull back from the fight. He doubles down, clinging to the belief that devastation is better than emptiness, that being hated is better than being erased.
“Funny,” Eddie says softly. “Is that what you tell yourself when you fuck anyone who’ll have you? That it doesn’t mean anything? That it’s easier than admitting you’re trying not to think about me?”
Or,
Eddie figures his shit out. Eventually.

Summary
Bending down, Eddie scoops the boy up, settling him on his hip with a swing. He jostles him playfully before focusing back on Ana.
“This is Theo,” he says, feeling Theo tilt his head against the crook of his neck at the sound of his name. “He joined pre-k here in May, didn’t you?”
Eddie brushes a clump of hair out of Theo’s eyes, tucking it behind his ear. It springs back to place immediately, unrestrained and uncontrolled. He really is due a haircut, but any time he or Buck mention it, Theo’s arms fly up to protect his hair like they’re going to hack away at it right there and then.
“Yes,” Theo says, voice lispy and a little shy as he blinks at Ana. “Are you a teacher?”

Summary
“He’s not,” Christopher interrupted after he swallowed, his eyebrows furrowed, “that’s not- no. Bucks not my uncle.”
His abuela waved a dismissive hand, “Oh, of course not, I know that. Isn’t that a thing you young ones do? Refer to your parents' close friends as aunts or uncles?”
And here’s the thing, yes. He refers to Hen and Karen as his aunties. He’s never blinked at that. He routinely tells people that he and Denny are basically cousins.
Sure, he even calls Maddie and Chim his aunt and uncle without a second thought, but that’s because - well, that’s because..
“He’s not my uncle,” Christopher repeated, “He’s my other dad.”

Summary
"That is. Okay. Where do I start." Pushing off the counter — hands need to be free for this. "Number one. That is not how being secure in your sexuality works. Number two. That is the opposite of how it works. Number three. Most straight men who are secure in their sexuality do not, as a method of confirming this, seek out gay sex. That is— Eddie, that is gay. The thing you are describing is gay. The act of doing it is gay. There is no version of this where you end up more straight at the other end."
Eddie scoffs. "You don't know that."
"I do know that."
"You don't."
"Eddie, I am bi. I have personally conducted this experiment. The results are in."
Or,
Eddie asks Buck to fuck him to prove he's straight. Things go about as well as you'd think.Series
