Yeah, he wants to tell them. He and Will have already come out to the Party and Will’s family. These are the last people that he has to tell. Every now and then when he closes his eyes, he sees a flashing red light and hears a voice telling him that he still hasn’t told them yet. He really can’t deal with any more pestering about girlfriends and about how he could get “any girl he wanted.” Because here’s the thing: even though he’s attracted to girls too, he doesn’t want just some girl, as nice as she could be. He already has everything he needs, romantically speaking. “I mean, shit, Will. I really do.”

“Do… you actually think it’s stupid?” Mike’s eyebrows furrow, knowing the answer is no, knowing that Will understands his own trauma, knowing that in the six years since everything’s ended back in Hawkins, neither of their nightmares have stopped.
(If the answer is yes, though, Mike knows the algorithm by heart.)
Will pulls away, blinks a few times, and sits up. He scrubs at his eyes, and shakes his head. “No. Just annoying. I know you never get tired of dealing with it, but sometimes I do.”
The admission saddens Mike, but still, it’s something that Will knows that Mike wants him in whatever fashion he’ll offer.
He doesn’t say that One is dead. He doesn’t say that the Upside Down is gone. He doesn’t say it's over, over and over and over again, because he knows Will knows.Or, Will has a nightmare. Mike knows how to help.

The kiss lasts barely a second, Will pulling away almost immediately as he initiated. Like a movie played in reverse, almost — with the same speed and force he had run into Mike’s arms, he is staggering out of them, the flush of relief and adrenaline replaced with a flush of shame, embarrassment, and the horrifying surety that he has ruined everything.
