Summary
Steve's hand slipped into his pocket and he pulled out the note Nancy had helped him write. His thumb slid over the crease where he had folded it.
Steve never planned for anyone else to see it. The only reason he let Nancy see it was because he needed her help to make it sound the way he wanted to. But maybe if Steve didn't have the confidence to tell Eddie himself about all the confusing feelings he had towards him, or ask him if they were actually friends, he could just anonymously give him the note and see what he thought. And he knew Eddie could use some positivity. But what if he found out it was Steve? What if the note upset Eddie? Before Steve could consider his doubts for longer than a few seconds, he was slipping the note in between the slats at the top of Eddie's locker.
Since Eddie tells Dustin everything, and Dustin tells Steve everything, he assumed he'd hear what Eddie thought about it soon enough.

"You have a date?" Steve knocked on the open door and then walked in, presumably here to give the kids a ride home.
"Eddie's starting a business. People pay him and he goes on dates with them or walks them home so other people will stop bothering them." Dustin explained.
"Ah." Steve nodded. "So, what do you do on these dates?" He raised an eyebrow.
Eddie pulled his hair in front of his face to hide his obvious blushing.
"I'm not a whore, Harrington."
