Scaramouche’s life was a maze of tangled thoughts and unresolved dilemmas. While others his age built relationships and chased success, he remained distant, preferring the edges of life over the center.

That was until a series of unplanned and spectacularly poor choices shattered his well-kept facade. It led him down an unfamiliar path – a messy, chaotic road he’d never planned to explore. He stumbled into something unexpected—something warm and genuine that made him feel alive in ways he never had. For the first time, Scaramouche felt a sense of belonging. He felt human.
Yet, his mind was a storm of contradictions. As warmth entered his life, so did fear, self-doubt, and the defenses he’d built over the years. These threatened to crush the fragile feeling before it could grow. Scaramouche adjusts the heavy strap on his shoulder before turning and taking a few steps away from the table. Before he gets too far, he stops and looks back at them. His eyes flick to Tartaglia, who has those obnoxiously sapphire eyes trained on him. The brightness of that blue always catches him off guard and it sends a quick shiver down his spine. One he pretends not to notice.
Not like there’s anything to notice in the first place.

Sakusa strokes a hand up between his shoulders, then curls two fingers into the chest harness and pushes Atsumu down, taking advantage of the leverage the rope affords him to press his chest to the bed.
“I’m counting on it.”

A year after the infectious outbreak that destroyed the world, Atsumu and a handful of other survivors are living in the relative safety of a prison they’ve secured. Kita leads their group, Suna takes care of them, Atsumu and Osamu cause more trouble than they should, and Sakusa is… Sakusa. Atsumu picked the worst time to develop feelings.
Osamu backtracks to him, keeping an eye out as Atsumu unzips his bag and starts to load up everything from the drawer. Bandages, packets of antibiotic gel, gauze pads, and a roll of medical tape. He pushes the drawer in and gives the next one a hard yank. There is an opened box of facemasks inside. The box says twenty count, but only a few remain inside.
“Jackpot,” he sing-songs to himself, shoving the whole box inside before zipping his bag back up.
Osamu is giving him an unreadable, flat stare as he stands, pulling his bag back into place.
“What?” he asks.
Osamu only shakes his head, turning back around and heading for the door again.
