It was stupid to leave the house unsupervised in their first year, let alone their first few months, but they didn’t care. They had to get out of that house, the house that they’d been trapped in for two months now—day after day, night after night. They needed to go to the one person they knew could relate to their current struggle. They needed to go to Sam. They loved Vincent, more than anything, but he couldn’t understand. He was unempowered before he became a vampire. He wouldn’t be able to help them cope with this certain brand of emptiness that came with their change, but Sam could.
