Fear gripped Anakin’s insides so tightly that he felt nauseous. Perhaps, finally, his luck had run out and this was his time to die. It was a shame that he had only lived nine short years; he hadn’t grown up enough to avenge his mother, to see his kingdom restored or to bring to life that strange prophecy Qui-Gon believed in so much. The witcher was going to fail his destiny and this stranger was going to die in front of him without Anakin ever learning his name.
The mysterious man seemed to sense his growing panic. “Close your eyes, child,” he murmured, sounding unbelievably calm in the face of such overwhelming horror.
Anakin put his face back down to the ground, clapped his hands over his ears and prayed for a quick end.

Peter-Two dropped silently to Peter-Three’s side and stared, in that curious, cat-like way of his, at the heap of clothing. “Is that hoodie… moving?”
Peter-Three stared at him as horror and realization dawned on his face, then turned back at the jiggling heap of clothes with a cringe. There were so many things that little heap could be and he couldn’t think of a single option that he liked. “I don’t want to touch it, you touch it.”
Peter-Two rolled his eyes and indulged him, kneeling carefully to reach out and pull the hoodie off whatever was moving on the floor. His blue eyes grew impossibly wider. “Peter?”
A small, curly-haired toddler with round cheeks and milky brown eyes stared up at him with equal amounts of confusion and alarm. He was gnawing on something that looked like his own sock.
“Is he…” Peter-Three seemed torn between being horrified and laughing, which made his face comically pinched. “Is he a BABY?”

The older Peter continued to stretch as he always did before battle, but he eyed his younger self with suspicion. He knew that tone. “So…?”
“When are you gonna tell us about your webbing?”
Peter-Two rolled his eyes so hard under his mask, it almost hurt. “You’re never going to let this go, are you?”

The youngest Peter’s shoulders sagged with defeat at those words. He wiped at his wet eyes. “I hate this,” he whispered, “People always get hurt because of me.”
Peter-Three said nothing for a long, pregnant pause. “No. People will get hurt anyways,” he admitted finally, “Spiderman is just there to do his best and minimize the damage.”
Peter-One gave a sad laugh. “You sounded like Peter-Two just now.”
The taller Peter’s mouth went dry at the compliment. He laid a hand on Peter-Two’s bloodied chest. “Yeah, well, I try.”

Embarrassingly, it made him sound like the teenage Peter. “But, uh, maybe shoving the dude with a stab wound through a multi-dimensional wormhole isn’t the best idea?”The three Peter Parkers get an extra two hours together. Just enough time to pick up some overpriced pizza and argue over the best places to eat in New York.
