“You know I love you, right?” Gyuvin suddenly asks, voice as soft as a whisper.
Ricky’s eyes shift into something unreadable as his face goes completely still. He takes a second too long to answer. To anyone else, it’d be meaningless. To Gyuvin, it makes his stomach instantly fall. Like he made a mistake. Like something’s shattered and he won’t be able to put it back together. Like he's in trouble.
“I know.” Ricky’s fingers twitch by his side. Gyuvin doesn’t even say anything about how there’s no ring on his finger. He doesn’t want to imagine why. He isn’t sure he can handle it right now. “I love you, too.”
That’s a pretty good example of how things are lately.
Gyuvin and Ricky have been best friends for over thirteen years. When they start drifting apart, Gyuvin starts to wonder where everything went wrong.

Gyuvin knows Hana is a bit shy. She stays close to her father, though she doesn’t hide behind him entirely. She’s met Ricky a few times, but not enough to feel immediately comfortable with him. Still, she has good manners, and she speaks up.
“Thank you for letting us stay here so that Santa can find me,” she says sincerely, and Ricky looks pleased, bending at the waist to give her a little tap on her nose, which makes her giggle.
“I should be thanking you. This will be the most fun Christmas I’ve ever had.”

Summary
Every time the topic of their solo stages for the upcoming fancon was brought up, Gyuvin found it difficult to keep his smile under control. It felt like he and Ricky were breaking the rules somehow, exploiting a loophole that allowed them to be so overt with their performances. They simply hadn’t been able to resist the temptation of finding a way to dedicate songs to each other.

“Listen, Hanbin Hyung was talking to me and—” Gyuvin started to say, shutting the door behind him, but his eyes landed on Ricky, and his jaw fell to the floor. Ricky blinked. He offered a pursed smile. Gyuvin didn’t move. He didn’t say anything—he stayed still, back to the door. His hand still gripped the doorknob.
Ricky’s heart raced. He didn’t know what to say—what was there to say? He cleared his throat, disrupting the awkward silence that built between them.
“So, uh, what was Hanbin saying?” Ricky prompted. Gyuvin shook his head. His eyes bulged as he slowly took a step closer to his bed.
“Forget Hanbin Hyung. What are you doing?” Gyuvin said.
Ricky misses Gyuvin. He might be a little jealous, too—but that's beside the point.

Just then, a thought appears in Ricky’s head, one so mortifying it makes his ears burn. He condemns himself silently for even entertaining such an idea. The younger man only stares at him, eyes shifting around his face and Ricky’s sure he’s noticed the sudden color to his cheeks.
He looks at Gyuvin a little harder then, really looking, ignoring the way it causes him to stiffen up in response. Despite being as rigid as ice, his eyes still have that little sparkle to them, cheeks rosy and Ricky can feel his self-control slipping.
