When they'd first moved into their current apartment, Peter was 4. He enjoyed playing around with things he probably shouldn't, and broke one of his mother's lamps. He was always careful around things after that, but soon enough he'd broken his own things more than once, and replacing them got too costly. He had bins for his toys, and a table for colouring and playing, but no more decorations. No superhero bedsheets, posters, or fancy lamps. The only decoration in his room was about a dozen glow-in-the-dark star stickers.

He promised to cherish those stars forever because they were the one thing he couldn't ruin.
(Alternatively: Peter Parker learns to live despite everything around him falling apart. Maybe in the wreck of it all, he'll find a family again.)

Summary
Bucky could come up with metaphors for how he felt all day but nothing compared to the pure unbridled yearning he felt for the man who was kind enough to harbor him. Bucky didn’t deserve that love. And even if he did, Clint didn’t deserve Bucky’s problems. There had to have been a mistake somewhere. Whatever god was looking over his life must’ve misplaced his feelings for a childhood fling into Clint Barton and now he was staring at the wrong back muscles cooking him breakfast. There was absolutely no way this was going to end well.

A spark started in Clint’s heart. One he thought would’ve been stomped out a while ago. He watched Bucky smile to himself and then glance out of the window, “The snow is lifting. We should get a move on.”
Clint snapped his head back to the dashboard, “Ah, yeah.” He started the car. It took a few tries, the motor barely functioning in the cold. The heat began to circulate through the car as Clint turned, finding his way to the main road again. Now was no time to pine over unrequited feelings. They had a home to get to. -
