Akari completes her pokedex, impresses Arceus, and her and Ingo are able to return to their original times. It was a little silly for them to assume they came from the exact same year though, wasn't it? Based on the mainline games' official timeline, Akari gets home several years before Ingo's disappearance. She's more upset that she has to wait so long just for The Battle Subway to exist than anything.
An exploration of this possibility, spanning across hundreds of years of before, then, and after.

And the thing is, once again: the rivalry, the tenuous friendship, the deal Akechi keeps referring to as if it’s a blood oath, it’s funny, just a bit. It’s funny to see Yoshizawa gasp as Goro’s pupils narrow and his movements become feral. It’s funny watching him switch through personalities and eavesdrop on Akira’s conversations. It’s funny seeing Akechi try and coerce him into an allyship as if he, Joker, should be afraid of him, distrust him. It’s a broken-up confusing world, and they are a broken-up confusing pair, so it’s funny, listening to the promises of happiness: even in this perfect reality it doesn’t seem like anything got better for him, for them. So even the whole Maruki spiel is funny.

easily the best dbh fic i've ever read. i kept having to stop initially because i was laughing so hard at connor's beautiful passive aggressive internal dialogue, and i'm equal parts impressed and amused at how the salt kept its pace consistently through the entire story. this fic is an experience fit to burst with sardonic humor and copious amounts of self-loathing and self-hatred, and connor taking no shit from no stinky human, but somehow after 22k words it ended up a hallmark christmas card moment at its conclusion. merry christmas everyone.
