Adam hadn’t spoken to Ronan in almost a year. The breakup had not been amicable or mutual. Ronan did not understand and wouldn't hear him out, and Adam had run out of patience. It had been messy. They hadn’t had any contact since. Their mutual friends never said his name around Adam. He assumed it was the same on Ronan’s end. They all had an unspoken agreement of avoidance and pretending none of that ever happened.

Adam wondered who had broken Ronan’s heart. It had been so long since they’d seen each other, and Adam didn’t think he’d really have that much of a long-term effect on Ronan’s life.
He couldn’t really help the twisting feeling of jealousy making home in his chest, but he didn’t really feel good about it. It had been seven years since they’d dated. He really should be over it by now.
