Destiny plays a cruel game with us. It lets us hope, lets us believe we are in control, just for things to end the way we knew they would anyways. But sometimes, to it’s very favorites, destiny will be kind. One of those favorites is Merlin. And what if this time it will actually end differently? What if this time he would find a way to show Morgana that violence was not the only option? What if this time, he could help Mordred not loose his loyalty. What if this time he could be honest with this man earlier on? Share his secret with him and show what magic can also be. Show him the beauty and peace it can bring. And what if this time he could build the courage to tell Arthur how he truly felt, before it will be too late again? If he could do all those things, could the ending truly be changed? Could he watch Arthur be the king he was destined to be instead of watching the love of his life die in his arms without him ever truly knowing what he meant for the young warlock? Merlin wasn’t sure. Anything he had ever done to try and change the cause of events had led to the exact situations he tried to avoid. But if destiny gives you a chance like this, you use it.
