As October rolls by and the typical November weather begins to swing into action, the freezing cold wind whips through the house, shaking the foundations and causing the wood to creak loudly. The wood-works reek with a musty, rotten soil stench which overwhelms each room. Two of the steps on the staircase are unusable because of the massive foot-shaped hole that penetrated through the wood from when both Tyler and I fell through. Every ceiling in the house has a bloated mass of moisture that hangs down, coffee-like stains etched around each swelling.
We can’t live here anymore; I say with a sternness that I hope impresses him.

And it is times like these which make me want to slam my head against a hard surface. Tyler Durden enjoys playing with people. He likes the thrill of always having a certain power of a person whether that is physically, emotionally, or intellectually. He especially enjoys saying things to me that will leave me feeling lost and unsure of his opinion on me. It is times like these where I kick myself in the heel because I know that despite how stupid and small he makes me feel, I will always come back for more. Before Tyler Durden, I couldn’t sleep. When someone has insomnia, chronic insomnia, they would give anything just for an hour’s worth of rest. Tyler knows this. He knows his importance to my situation. But Tyler Durden is cruel, and he will exploit this knowledge for all its worth.

I’m rapidly coming to the realization that I don’t like fighting anyone other than Tyler. I’m putting words to what used to be an abstract string pull in my gut, telling me that what I’m doing isn’t really what I think I’m doing. This isn’t about the thrill of the scuffle, the catharsis I am experiencing is simply a watered down, repackaged dupe of the real deal. I am seeking a blow to my cheek that leaves me reeling so hard my body has no choice but to conjure up tears. There is a butterfly light thrill that shoots up my spine when Tyler twists his torso under mine and forces me off my feet with his entire body weight.
These are dwindling highs. I need a higher dose every time, and there’s only so many ways to make lingering, full body contact as we try to beat each other into the floor. Fighting Tyler is losing its zeal, and I have no interest in any of the other idiots who crowd the basement every Saturday night.
