Summary
When Sakumo wakes up, he is not alone in his house.
(“Thank you,” Sakumo says, finally looking back at Kaguya. “But there may still be battles to come.”
Kaguya moves suddenly, and for a moment he expects her to crouch down. Instead, he finds himself being floated upwards by an invisible force so that they are at eye level. “You do not want to fight,” she notes.
Sakumo nods. She leans forward and holds his face in her hands. “Then we are the same. I am glad.”)

Summary
One year into the aftermath of the war, Iruka once again finds himself in Kumogakure.
(The cat ducks her head and closes her eyes, which Iruka takes as his cue to let the tabby sniff his hand. “Nii Yugito, the Nibi jinchūriki. Her bijū was a cat. Killer Bee tells me they’ve given the felines a place of honour since they lost her.”
“A good way to honour their friend,” Kakashi agrees sympathetically. As if in approval, the tabby rubs her head against the front of Kakashi’s vest.
Iruka smiles. “Yes. It makes me wonder... how Naruto might’ve grown up, if he were in a village like this.”)

Summary
Sometime after the release of the Infinite Tsukuyomi, Kakashi visits.
(In lieu of a response, Kakashi reaches out and offers him a clumsy pat on the ankle. It is familiar, and for that reason, it is unbearably heavy. It feels like a house has been dropped on his chest.
“Kakashi,” Tenzō says finally. “What happened?”
“It’s a long story,” is Kakashi’s eventual reply.
“Well, as you can see, I’m in a hurry,” Tenzō deadpans, lifting one hand tiredly.)

Summary
The jōnin captains, Sai discovers, exhibit very odd social behaviours.
(“Aren’t secrets usually indicative of shame?” Sai asks, confused.
Sakura shoves his shoulder in what she probably assumes is a gentle manner. “Love is a complicated thing, Sai. You can’t assume you know someone’s motives.”
“I don’t understand his motives,” says Sai plainly. “That is why I’m asking you.”)
