Summary
Ronan ripped open his front door, vicious and fully prepared to sink his teeth into whomever it was that had decided to interrupt his night again. He snarled into the dark, expecting his self righteous brother or an overly well-meaning Gansey.
Instead, he got Adam Parrish, looking dazed and unsteady on his ratty doormat. Adam’s eyes were cloudy and unfocused, blood from a split lip smeared on his chin, his pale throat littered with fresh bruises.
“I’m sorry,” Adam said in a hoarse voice. “I didn’t know where else to go.”

Summary
People live their lives in circles, constantly moving through the same cycles over and over. In Henrietta, Virginia, they're making a change: Joseph Kavinsky does not die on the Fourth of July.
Ronan makes a deal with Kavinsky to protect the ley line. A relationship starts to build between them as they struggle to uphold the deal, and Ronan begins to wonder if there's a chance that it could survive both the quest to find Glendower and their own self-destructive tendencies.
Adam has always known what he wanted and how to get it. As the quest for Glendower becomes more dangerous, he starts to become concerned about the rogue in their midst. As Ronan and Kavinsky become closer, Adam is caught between minding his own business and making sure that his friends and their quest are safe.
Kavinsky always gets what he wants. If he can't buy it or steal it- he can make it. Until what he wants is Ronan Lynch. He's on the verge of making some very bad decisions when he gets an opportunity: A deal that he can use to keep Ronan around. However, as Kavinsky tries to get Ronan to return his feelings, he realizes that he's being torn between what he's always had and what he desperately wants.

“Cheng,” Ronan said threateningly. Or, as threateningly as he could when he probably looked like some lovesick loser. Jesus fucking Christ.
Or, the college AU where most of the gang works in a coffee shop, Ronan is completely gone on Adam, and the universe might just give him the push he needs to do something about it.

It was also in that moment that Ronan realised that if, god forbid, this went away, he would not be able to survive it. It would rip his heart out. And Opal’s. He wrapped his arms around Adam tighter.
However, later that night, it would fall apart and Ronan would survive it. And so would Opal. And a year later he would still be okay for Opal but there would be many nights every week when he would cry himself to sleep, wrapping his arms around himself.
