    "Do you still remember?"

“Maybe it’s better,” the angel says, forlorn, “if you don’t remember.”
    “Remember what?”
“For what follows, I’m sorry. But Kephale always remembers, and I promise not to forget this.”
Phainon frowns. Kephale? That name tickles something, but he doesn’t know what. It feels weird, like that pudding that got him sick last month.
    “Forget what?”
“Remember them; the ones that won’t reach the dawn.”

Visions burn behind his eyelids ever since, and the fire roars forever more in the canvas of a picture. Mydei used to quench the fire, for a while, but he never understood what art truly means for Phainon. So why, fifteen years later, does Phainon find Mydei stand there, staring up at a painting of burning gold?

    Summary

The shining gold frame towers over the guests observing below, its size nearing the height of the museum's walls. This painting was said to be the grandest art piece there is, belonging to the famous artist "De". One he has painted for his personal exhibition tonight—in fact, it could have been the grandest of all art pieces he has made, but no one understands the occasion.

The title De wrote below the painting was but a simple and single word. "Deliverer", yet stylicized in a foreign text that linguistic experts believe to be the ancient Kremnoan language of the early Castrum Kremnos.

And he—Phainon of Aedes Elysiae, belonging from a town in the outskirts of Okhema City—stands there with a wide eyed gaze and trembling hands. Because that painting is not any ordinary painting.

    It looked like him.

Matter of fact, it may just be him.

    OR;

Phainon enters a cycle of modern Amphoreus. Everything is oddly familiar yet he can't remember why, except something haunts him in his dreams, forcing him to relive memories he grew to believe may be his.

All is barely well, until a certain secret painter turns out to have the same predicament as he does.

    Summary

Phainon dreams of meeting people he has known his whole life. One, however, escapes him. The flame chase journey may be over, but still, Phainon finds himself chasing something, someone, else entirely.
    -
Phainon doesn’t know what to blame, exactly. He just knows that this feeling of failure likes to claw its way into his chest and dig deep. Sometimes it manages its way up his throat, into his vocal chords and out his mouth. He dreamt of seeing a beautiful sea, too beautiful to be real. A man, back turned, walking past the gates of Okhema to embrace his fate, to inherit Strife, to leave everyone behind in the name of the Flame-Chase Journey.

He props a large canvas on his easel and he paints golden eyes and blonde hair, his brushstrokes filled with the red markings of painted-on tattoos; while his heart does its best to leap out of his chest, each stroke followed by shaking hands and the tears in his eyes he doesn’t quite shed.

    Summary

“Tell me,” Anaxa continues, “in your mind, what lies beyond the sky?”
“Tomorrow,” Phainon answers without thinking and golden eyes bear down onto him. Anaxa shifts beside him.
“The new dawn,” Phainon continues, even though he realises he’s not making coherent sense, “deliverance.”

In the next cycle, the title of world-bearing falls onto someone else and in the absence of this duty, Phainon wonders where he fits.

    Summary

“March 7th?” the man says, incredulously.

“Uh, yeah,” says March, squinting up at him.

“Thought I was the only one who got named after a date,” the man mutters, pinching the bridge of his nose. Those are nice gloves, she thinks, sleek black fingerless things. “Just because some people can’t be bothered—” He lets out an annoyed sigh, and said, “August 16th.”

    Seriously?” March yelps.
