She hoped her touch seeped into his pores like water and reached deep into some veiled corner of his soul. She hoped that her warmth could speak what she did not say: you’re human enough. No matter what fate has chosen for you, I choose to believe that you’re human enough.
He did not speak, but his shoulders loosened. They pressed against hers, like he was finally releasing a little bit of weight. Releasing it, and placing it on her. A weight she was willing to bear.
“Will I see you again?” he whispered to the jeweled needles of rain.
“Will fate allow it?” she whispered back to the ashen-faced clouds.
His attention fell to her. With an easy grace, as if this was as natural as existing, he plucked a golden ginkgo leaf from Mona’s dew-pearled hair.
“What can fate do if I choose so?”

Stuck in a facade, perhaps there is more to each other than they would think. Mona discovers things worth more than pride, and Scaramouche dares to cherish what he thought he loathed.

“You know what? Perhaps it would be for the best that you gift mooncakes to Xiangling in my stead.”
“Great idea. Genius, Chongyun.” Hutao smiled placatingly and eagerly pried the box from his arms. "Then why don’t you go back to doing whatever you were doing before? I'll get it to her. I’m sure she’ll appreciate your intentions."
"Of being a friend?" Chongyun asked.
No response. Hutao started walking away.
“Of being a friend, right?” He called after her.
And Hutao disappeared with a flash of vermillion.

Chongyun just wanted to gift mooncakes to Xiangling. But Hutao came along and just happened to mess it up, stringing them into a mess of misconceptions and mixed emotions.
In which Chongyun and Xiangling fall victim to one of Hutao's schemes during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

A sob formed a tight knot at the bottom of her throat, building up pressure. She was afraid that it would make her heart rupture if it made it out.
“...Why?” Guizhong choked, falling to her knees. “Why would you… for me?”
Zhongli coughed weakly and lightly skimmed his free hand over Guizhong’s cheek. “Because…” He seethed, pain infusing every syllable. “You seemed… too eager… to die.”

“Xiao...?” Ganyu repeated, her voice palpable with surprise as her lilac eyes widened ever so slightly at the mention of the name. “He’s going to be coming here?
Even though it had been centuries since the two of them had last spoken, the image of those lonely cat-like golden eyes— illuminated with the rest of the soft child-like features of his face under the silver glow of the full moon— still found itself strongly engraved in her memory.
Was there any chance that he even wanted to see her again? Even after all this time?
A delicate hand subconsciously made its way over her heart at the thought, a saddened sunset hued lilac gaze turning down onto the sea of clouds below.
A part of her couldn’t help but wonder… if bringing herself to face him again was just another part of her ‘homecoming’?
