    Summary

The fate of Drearburh lies on the shoulders of its Duchess, Harrowhark Nonagesimus. With debts piling up and a castle in disrepair, Drearburh can only survive if Harrow manages to find a wealthy spouse who will pull her out of financial ruin. Harrow would do anything to preserve her family name - even if it means giving up on her feelings for Gideon Nav, the stableboy she's been hopelessly in love with since childhood.

Gideon Nav has been at Harrow's mercy ever since Drearburh took her in as a baby. When Harrow offers to release Gideon from her service in exchange for escorting her through the social season, Gideon finally sees a way out. But, as she begins to see through the cracks in Harrow's facade, Gideon realizes that helping Harrow get married might be more complicated than she thought. And why has King Gaius taken such an interest in her?

    Summary

It’s her second year at Canaan University, and Gideon is finally coming into her own. She has a full athletic scholarship, best friends Pal and Cam, and a found family with the Pents and Terrible Teens. She shares a locker room with her hot teammate Corona, who even knows her name.

    Gideon is happy.

And then she meets her new roommate, Harrowhark Nonagesimus, who is the absolute worst. (The feeling is decidedly mutual.)

It certainly doesn’t seem so to either at first, but this is going to turn out to be a good thing for both of them.

    Eventually.

    Summary

“Vidal,” Agnes says, twirling her stake between her fingers. Her voice carries over the empty cemetery, disturbing the chorus of crickets. “Don’t tell me you’re visiting your own grave. That’s just sad.”

Vidal grins. Her pointed teeth catch the moonlight. “Oh, please,” she says, brushing a bit of dirt from the name carved into the gravestone. “I wouldn’t be caught dead dying in this town. I’m just checking up on one of the locals.”

Before guest-starring as Agent Vidal in Agatha's cop drama, Rio plays along for a few of Agatha's other TV-inspired delusions.

    Summary

The first thing that Wanda sees after shuddering awake: the Grim Reaper, tossing a tarantula in the air like a baseball.

“Hey, bitch,” the Grim Reaper says, catching the tarantula by one of its hairy legs. “Sorry – witch.”

Wanda blinks. Her eyes won’t focus; there’s nothing to focus on. Apart from the Grim Reaper – skeletal and shrouded in a black hood – the world around her is a vast expanse of nothingness.

“You sure went out with a bang, hm?” the Grim Reaper says. “What do the kids say these days? ‘Big dick energy’?”

    -------------

After Wanda's death, Rio asks her for a vital bit of intel: Agatha Harkness's current location.

    Summary

Gideon tapped her lip in thought. “Wellllll, I suppose, given that you just called me striking—”

    “I didn’t call you striking, I said you’d make a striking impression—”

“—Called me striking,” Gideon said again, “and basically said I have the physique of a god…”

“I said absolutely none of the above.”

“Because you just said explicitly and in no uncertain terms that I am incredibly sexy, muscular, and the greatest swordswoman that ever lived…I guess I can be your date to God’s funeral,” Gideon said.

    OR:

Three years ago—the ten thousandth year of the King Undying, the kindly Prince of Death!—no one in the Nine Houses received a summons to Lyctorhood. Now God is dead, the saints are panicking, and Gideon is being dragged to Canaan House with Harrow to attend the funeral. Sure would be a shame if, in this time of dull mourning, Gideon were to open up a mysterious old book, accidentally steal Harrow’s powers, and pitch the entire necro-cav dichotomy into utter chaos…
