“Well-“ Reki started, cheeks flushing a bit in embarrassment before he coughed his nerves out, straightening, “He actively moves away from any of us when we get too close, y’know? Won’t even high-five me.” Reki explained, rocking on the balls of his feet, hands stuffed in his pockets, eyes fixed on the floor. Then, slowly, carefully, he looked up and met Joe’s eyes, a questioning glint to his eyes. “But he touches you every chance he gets.”

And he assumed that meant he couldn’t date either. Perhaps even that he didn’t want to — but there’s something inside him that kind of yearns for it, a connection with someone special.
“So, I just have to be alone forever because nothing ever flipped the switch inside me that makes me want to be ground up against the back of a half-pipe?”
“No,” Kojiro says carefully. “That’s kind of the opposite of what I’m getting at. Not if you date the right guy,” Kojiro promises.
“And where am I going to find this magical suitor?” Kaoru snaps.
“Kaoru?” Kojiro says. “Will you go on a date with me?”Alternatively: Kaoru isn't sure if he even wants to date, so Kojiro offers himself up as a pretend boyfriend.
