To the rest of the world, Satoru Gojo is untouchable. To Suguru, he is just the high school ex-boyfriend who calls after midnight when he wants to escape the spotlight. Suguru tells himself he is in control of the situation. He tells himself he’s over it, that inventing fake boyfriends is enough to keep his distance, and that what happens every other month between them means nothing.
It’s just casual. It’s just sex. That’s what Suguru repeats to himself every single time he opens the door.
The problem with dealing with the biggest actor of their generation is that, sometimes, his acting is just too good for Suguru’s own good.

Megumi’s breath hitches. A thousand microexpressions that Gojo’s learned to read over the years flicker across his features like the pages of a flipbook. “...what?”
“It was me. I killed him,” Gojo confirms. “I killed your father, Megumi.”

There’s a sound itching at the back of his mind, a soft repetition that’s forcing Pure Vanilla’s eyes back open with its unfamiliarity. He mumbles a groan, pushing himself up in bed as he brushes back the hair from his forehead and reaches for the staff beside him. As his hand finds purchase, he lifts it up high and scans the room around him.
Pure Vanilla’s vision may still be blurred from blinking back sleep, but there’s a familiar blue form seated at his dresser.
“Shadow Milk Cookie?”
The form turns; bright white hair sways from the movement, spilling over slender shoulders and adorned with a large blue bow. Sharp eyes peer at him, framed by an unkind smile curved in a smirk.
“Aw,” is all but sneered. “Miss him already?”

Suguru might actually take up Shoko on that cigarette offer.
If the rush really is as good as she describes, he could just have to take one.
Sitting on the cold steps of the school, he can’t get rid of the image of Gojo smiling his self-assured, playful smile, and pushing him away to the exit. Assuring Suguru that he’ll be fine.
What do you take me for? I’m the strongest. Fushiguro says it’s the duty of the strong to protect the weak.
He drops his head into his hands. He shouldn’t have left the idiot to deal with a curse that neither of them could move against first. A special-grade, Ijichi said. Both he and Gojo were classified as Special-Grade Sorcerers, but that monster was nothing they could have beat. Not in a million years.
Both of them could have escaped at the same time, into different exits. It would have made it harder for the curse to follow both of them, and from there, they could have rejoined with Shoko and made it out safely. Gojo didn't need to stay behind.
If only they’d done that.

“Fushiguro! You’re looking good, as usual,” he laughs, holding a thumb up. “I got an order from the higher-ups to retrieve a special-grade cursed object. Even though they’ve already sent Satoru!”
Fushiguro picks up Itadori’s phone, checking through it. “Is it a finger? Of course you should be getting it.”
“I mean, sure, but Satoru’s goin’ anyway,” he complains. “He’s more than capable of handling a Grade 2 curse already. Don’t know why they insist on making me go babysit him.”
Fushiguro sighs, rubbing the back of his head. As he walks away, clicking off his equipment, he says, “They’re just worried Satoru will get distracted and fuck off to do something else. Go be a teacher.”
Well. He certainly has a point.
Satoru, for all his power and intelligence, is not the best at solo missions, solely due to having no one to police him. Hopefully, he’ll be able to focus better in Jujutsu Tech, but Yuuji’s still a little worried about that.
Teaching is a daunting task, even if that phrase is something that Fushiguro always scoffs at him for saying. Sure, he’s been one for several years now, and the kids are usually easy to handle, but Satoru is a special case. Special-grade, to be exact.

The first time Suguru meets Gojo, he knows it must be a mistake.
“Are you okay?” are words that should never be coming out of that guy’s mouth. Especially now.
It’s just his luck; his shitty, good-for-nothing luck that landed him a soulmate that’s the complete opposite of what he likes.
Suguru knows his type. Mild. Kind. Brown eyes, maybe. Someone that he can talk to easily and stay silent with just as well. Not this arrogant, snarky, loudmouth of a sorcerer. Suguru barely got the chance to summon his cursed spirits before the guy came jumping into his scene, laughing like it’s all a joke as he exorcises a Grade 2 with a swipe of his fingers.
“Suguru-kun, you have a kind soulmate,” he remembers his aunt telling him. “Their first words are out of worry for you.”
He looks back at Gojo, bashing a curse’s head into the concrete, gleeful like a child with a new toy, and thinks, bullshit.

“What happened?” He channels the calmest tone he can utter, but he has always worn his heart on his sleeve. Yuji's grip tightens on Megumi's kneecaps. Something fiery and dangerous is boiling in his gut.
“Yuji.” Megumi responds, his tone a warning.

Megumi never tells Yuji about the bath, the ritual that caused him to develop aquaphobia. When he nearly drowns during a mission his very serious fear and unhealthy tendencies are exposed.

“Yeah, very,” Yuuji snaps. “And he just went to the bathroom, so you–” The words cut off abruptly as recognition finally pierces the thick fog of alcohol; Megumi feels the precise instant it happens: the tension in Yuuji’s body shifts from being defensively rigid to something else – surprise laced with embarrassed heat and clear, flooding relief. He turns his head at last. “Megumi?”
