Sidon gasped. Link’s arm was profoundly changed. Beginning at his shoulder, strange gray geometric shapes formed a patchwork pattern, masking his natural skin as it progressed down his arm until all was overtaken by the same dark charcoal material everywhere beyond his elbow. Copper ribbons twisted strange shapes around the contours of the arm, forearm and hand.
Sidon reached out tentatively and touched Link’s arm. It was hard like stone and cold. He was speechless.
Link has returned to Sidon, but not unchanged.

“You won’t believe in the Loch Ness Monster but you believe in mermaids?” he asks, exhaling on a shaky, disbelieving laugh. Lance turns to him, his smile a light in the dark.
