He's never been normal about David. He must've always liked David the way he shouldn't and was too stupid to realize it. And now that he's realized it, he's starving for him. He needs David like he needs air. He needs to be inside him—it's disgusting and possessive, and he wonders if this is why it's illegal. He's never wanted a girl like this, like he wanted to own her. The thought of David kissing a different boy makes him angry, horribly and irrationally angry.

Summary
There’s a ringing in his ears and he feels like he doesn’t know up from down, as these delusions seem to be taking their place beside his real memories. New memories of war, memories of love, memories of people he knows and people he’s never met, though he feels like he’s spent a lifetime with them.
And he remembers Davey.
Davey is the name that keeps repeating itself over and over in his mind, though he isn’t quite sure what it means.
Davey, Davey, Davey.
In these false memories Davey was someone he loved, truly loved, despite the times these memories seem to take place. Kisses on fire escapes, long talks until morning, he remembers the strike, being by Davey’s side as they fought to take down Pulitzer, whatever it takes.
The thought alone gives him butterflies, but his mind won’t give him much solace before the war digs its way back into his head. It’s too much, more graphic and dreadful than he thinks his mind can make up on its own.
Still, they leave him alone on the bathroom floor questioning if they could be real.
