“Is it really you?” Ava’s voice trembled, willing herself to not hope for the impossible.
“I don’t know,” Sara whispered from her place in the doorway. Ava recognized her voice immediately, and her heart lifted before dropping again, taking note of the distressed tone Sara had used. Ava quickly stood, the blanket she had draped over her shoulders slipping off onto the bed. She turned and saw the silhouette of her fiance outlined by the light coming from the hallway.
Sara was leaning against the doorframe, visibly exhausted and slightly muddy but other than that she looked surprisingly okay.

This ridiculous situation with Chicago PD has gone on long enough. They don’t let one of their teammates struggle alone like this. And Hailey is so clearly not okay.
OR: Kim finally stages an intervention for Hailey. The question is whether she’s too late.
Written because I’m pissed at how Chicago PD has sucked in the friendship and support department lately. I still don’t understand why there is so little support (or even interactions) between the rest of the team and Hailey when she so clearly needs help. *rant over*
