They keep it to once a month and so the tension builds and builds for thirty to thirty-one days. It prevents excess, which means lower risk of capture. The caution is necessary.
Tonight, Hannibal has not been cautious.

Hannibal finds himself in a vicious cycle after he accepts an offer from the poet Antony Dimmond to take him to bed. Which he does... a lot. Hannibal aches for Will terribly, but his hunger isn't sated by bedding someone who looks something like the man he gutted and left behind in Baltimore. Instead, he's only spurred into dreams about Will, followed by apparitions of him in the waking world. Even the reality of his memory palace begins to change. Hannibal desperately wants to see the real Will again, but fears he may have ruined his own chances.

Will and Hannibal traverse their childhood memories together, taking each other deep into their minds. On the other side lay mothers, death, and the past.

Summary
He drags himself to his knees, every movement screaming agony, and looks down at Hannibal splayed underneath him. Hannibal gazes back, devotion carved into every line of his face. Will never could tell his love and his hunger apart, and though he knows that it could have glutted itself on the mere sight of him once, he isn’t sure if that is enough to sate it anymore.
After they fall, the sea spits them bloody and clinging to life and each other, onto the shores of a new life. But there are promises still unkept and wounds still unhealed between them, and it will take more than mere words to pry them open again.

Summary
Hannibal can’t resist bringing the t-shirt to his nose to smell it. There’s no trace of atrocious aftershave, nor Will’s usual deodorant. They’re both drowned out by the intense fragrance of Will’s raw scent. It makes Hannibal’s usual low pulse quicken, and all his blood rushes south so fast it almost hurts.
Or, Hannibal drives to Will's house to check on his fever, but Will looks so vulnerable that he can't resist doing much more than that.
